چکیده
We continue the study of two recently introduced bin packing type problems, called with clustering, and online delays. A input consists items sizes not larger than 1, goal is to partition or pack them into bins, where total size every valid cannotexceed 1. In also have colors associated them. globally optimal solution can combine different while a clustered only monochromatic bins. Items may wait be packed, algorithm create new any time, subset already existing unpacked it, condition valid. created cannot used again in future, all packed bins eventually. objective minimize number plus sum waiting costs items, build work modify simple phase-based algorithm. modification careful analysis improve previously known competitive from 3.951 below 3.1551.

Bin Packing with Queues
We study the best achievable performance (in terms of the average queue size and delay) in a stochastic and dynamic version of the bin-packing problem. Items arrive to a queue according to a Poisson process with rate 2ρ, where ρ ∈ (0, 1). The item sizes are independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) with a uniform distribution in [0, 1]. At each time unit, a single unit-size bin is availa...
متن کاملOn Bin Packing with Conflicts
We consider the offline and online versions of a bin packing problem called bin packing with conflicts. Given a set of items V = {1, 2, . . . , n} with sizes s1, s2 . . . , sn ∈ [0, 1] and a conflict graph G = (V, E), the goal is to find a partition of the items into independent sets of G, where the total size of each independent set is at most one, so that the number of independent sets in the...
متن کاملOn-Line Extensible Bin Packing with Unequal Bin Sizes
In the extensible bin packing problem we are asked to pack a set of items into a given number of bins, each with an original size. However, the original bin sizes can be extended if necessary. The goal is to minimize the total size of the bins. We consider the problem with unequal (original) bin sizes and give the complete analysis on a list scheduling algorithm (LS). Namely we present tight bo...
متن کاملBin Packing
In the bin packing problem, we get a sequence of packets of size r 1 ; r 2 ; r 3 ; : : :, each r i 1, and we must place the packets into bins of size 1 using as few bins as possible. The size of a bin is the accumulated size of all packets in the bin, and the free capacity of a bin is 1 minus its size.
متن کاملBin Packing with Multiple Colors
The Bin Packing problem is a classical optimization problem with many practical applications related to minimizing time or space. The Black and White Bin Packing problem is a variation proposed by Balogh et al. (2012), where we are given a set of items each with a weight and a color either white or black. We have an unlimited number of bins each with a weight limit and we assume that no item we...
